The woman has short gray hair and is wearing a patterned sweater and blue jeans. The girl has shoulder-length brown hair and is wearing a blue jacket, white sneakers, and dark pants. They are smiling and posing for the photo.

Betty Earll (Childs)

Betty was a loving Grandmother and terrible joke teller (though she tried her best). Her parents Lewis and Elizabeth Childs immigrated from Austria before Betty was born in Great Falls Montana in 1935. She then graduated from Great Falls High School in 1953 and Colorado Women's College, Denver, CO in 1955 with a degree in Elementary Education and Journalism.

After college, she was an inspiration to many as she held various child-centric jobs, including teaching second grade and working at a Montessori. Betty was also active in local community organizations like Junior League and Crisis Center, the Catholic Church, the Cursillo Movement, Cascade County Heart Association, and Hospice.

In her later years, you could find Betty sleeping till 11 and waking up slow while sharing a cup of coffee and a biscotti with her dog on the back porch. Then wandering out to the garden with her granddaughters to pick as many raspberries as they could hold. Her love of food, life, and compassion are the inspiration behind Betty’s Bakery and are baked right into our very heart.

Meet the Founder

Kendra is Betty’s granddaughter. Her love of baking started early, honestly earlier than she can even remember. Her first memories of baking were of her sitting on the floor with a mixing bowl in her lap and a whisk in her hand. Flour everywhere and butter on her face… that was all it took. She was hooked and couldn’t wait to help her grandma Betty make fudge at the cabin on Swan Lake or help her mom, Julie, make cookies after she got off work. Since then, her love of baking has only grown. Eventually, she found that in her free time, she was always planning her next bake, dreaming up fun flavor combinations, and solving for how to make her next batch even better!

Kendra was born and raised in Great Falls, Montana where she graduated from Charles M. Russell High School in 2009. She then moved to Missoula and attended University of Montana, where she achieved a Bachelors in Business Management Information Systems and a certificate in Digital Marketing in 2015.

After college, Kendra moved to Portland, Oregon after receiving a job offer from a marketing agency. She worked there full-time for a number of years and built their first-ever Paid Social department! From there, Kendra branched off and started her own Digital Marketing agency. Which gave her the ability to move back to her home state of Montana!

Currently, Kendra is still operating a Digital Marketing agency and works from home. She is plunging into the next part of her life (balancing being a marketing agency owner and a micro-bakery owner) head first! All with the goal of finding peace, loving what she does, and bringing a bit of joy to those who may need it.

She plans to start Betty’s Bakery small, with local farmers markets and eventually take online orders for delivery. With hopes that she will have the community support from her home state that will enable Betty’s Bakery to grow into a Missoula staple!
